News MTC chief named Business Leader of the Year

Manufacturing Technology Centre chief executive Dr Clive Hickman has been named Business Leader of the Year by the University of Wolverhampton.
Dr Hickman was recognised for his contribution to industry through innovative leadership at the university’s Business Achievement Awards 2017 ceremony held at Molineux Stadium last month.
The judges were tasked with selecting a former graduate of the university who was an ‘outstanding leader’ within business or industry, had risen to a position of leadership and could demonstrate how their skills enabled them to contribute an improvement.
In choosing Dr Hickman from a shortlist of three, the judging panel saw him as clear winner highlighting the following:

• His outstanding contribution to the sector and his amazing and diverse career in a number of senior roles.

• His vision with apprenticeships and his work with young talent through the MTC

• His support to budding talent at his alma-mater (supporting a mechanical engineering student both financially and through mentoring) via the Hickman Foundation

Dr Hickman said: “It was a privilege and an honour to be recognised with a Business Achievement Award by the university. I owe my thanks to the university and the opportunity it gave me at the start of my career.”

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Oakes said: “The Business Achievement Awards enable us to celebrate graduates, employers and organisations who deserve recognition for their excellent contribution to business, enterprise and the economy.”

The MTC facility exudes excellence from the moment you step through the front door.

Steve and his team carry an air of calm and confidence whilst transmitting an absolute passion for what you do.

Best afternoon I’ve spent away from the office for a long, long time.

Send me some boxes to tick, because the visit ticked them all.
