PACMAM

The intent of the PACMAM project was to demonstrate the use of a design 'platform' through constructing physical prototypes that replicate a sub-set of a larger assembly.

The prototype processes also set out to define and validate:

  • Platform Design Development
  • Schools Business case development
  • Housing Layout using modules from schools
  • Discrete Event Simulation (DES)
  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Prototype build and validation
  • Ongoing process definition
  • The culmination of the project being presented at a one-day showcase event at the MTC

The aim of PACMAM was to demonstrate that it is possible to apply processes and techniques proven in other industrial sectors to construction and infrastructure. This project supports the activities currently underway in support of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) under Digital Build Britain (DBB), through a physical validation of the approach being developed; demonstrating credibility and helping to obtain buy-in across sectors.
