Smiths Group becomes member of the Manufacturing Technology Centre

  • Additive Manufacturing

Smiths Group, a leading industrial technology company, today announces its membership of the Manufacturing Technology Centre (“MTC”) to support future growth and success in advanced manufacturing across the UK.

Smiths joins MTC’s core research programme to sit alongside other major UK-based manufacturers, including Airbus and Rolls-Royce, who are committed to supporting UK industry and driving new technologies. MTC and its members engage in over 400 commercial projects a year and utilise the expertise of 600+ in-house engineers to tackle challenges and embrace risks to pioneer ground-breaking solutions.

The opportunity to visit the Manufacturing Technology Centre to unveil our membership at MTC represents another exciting stage in the constant evolution of Smiths Group.

Developed in response to the UK Government’s manufacturing strategy, the goal of MTC is to prove innovative manufacturing processes and technologies in an agile environment, in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions.

From early-stage ideation through to producing physical proof of concepts, MTC’s experts will partner with teams at Smiths, helping overcome key challenges. MTC will take a guiding role throughout the entire process – not just product manufacturing - working with Smiths to plug any expertise gaps, evaluating the market, and coming up with solutions.

We’re delighted to welcome Smiths Group as new members and partners for progress in advanced manufacturing.  This partnership marks a significant step forward and we look forward to working together to drive innovation, growth and long-term impact across the sector.
