For Midlands firms, this moment is critical. Our region already stands out for its strong network of manufacturers and world-class research institutions working together to drive innovation. This new Industrial Strategy provides the clarity and direction manufacturers need to unlock private investment, accelerate innovation and build resilience.
With targeted investments and a focus on strategic growth hubs, Midlands firms have the potential to shape the global industrial landscape. Initiatives such as the £160 million Investment Zones and pilot programmes with local authorities provide a clear path to strengthen supply chains, support SMEs and drive regional growth. This is more than a national opportunity; it’s a moment to turn regional excellence into international leadership.
MTC is a prime example of this strategy in action. Through our work across advanced, high-value sectors – from automotive to aerospace – we’re helping to drive the UK’s transition to net zero with experience in areas like nuclear and hydrogen, and equipping the next generation with the skills the industry needs to thrive.
