REE Automotive is committed to developing a world-class manufacturing process to deliver its ground-breaking EV technology. MTC is proud to continue to support REE on this ambitious journey.
The Challenge
REE Automotive has partnered with MTC to establish a UK-based pilot production facility serving as a blueprint for future assembly operations worldwide. MTC is helping REE accelerate its capability to meet global demand for its innovative technology.
MTC's Solution
Project PLENUM (Pilot Line Electrified corNer Unit asseMbly) is a broad and varied programme encompassing design for manufacture, design for assembly, automation, business transformation and state-of-the-art industry technologies. Throughout the project, MTC has focused on supporting REE's operations, mitigating risks associated with the roll-out of its UK manufacturing facilities.
MTC and the Advanced Propulsion Centre have been extremely supportive of REE's mission to become a UK-based global leader in LCV technology. With their help in multiple rapid delivery projects our innovative REEcorner technology is set be rolled out worldwide.
Chris Thompson, Head of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - REE Automotive
The Outcome
MTC via PLENUM have strengthened REE's position as a UK based leader in LCV technology by leveraging broad capabilities in Design, Process Development, Factory Design and Supply Chain Development to accelerate REE's products towards commercialisation and volume production starting in late 2024.
Benefits to the Client
- Help in identifying and securing research and development funding and grants.
- Capability mapping, gap analysis and development.
- Impartial advice on technology and manufacturing readiness and development pathways.
- Access to a wide range of manufacturing capabilities from design and simulation to supply chain management, through to the latest Industry 4.0 techniques.
- De-risking the development of new technologies and processes using multiple manufacturing capabilities and resources in through a single provider.
- Accelerating product development through digital manufacturing techniques.
Having the support of both MTC and the APC has allowed REE to develop the REEcorner manufacturing process in way we wouldn't have been able to otherwise. It has made the process significantly smoother and provided access to incredibly experienced resources, accelerating development of our manufacturing processes.
