MTC is thrilled to announce our new partnership with Cummins, a global leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of power solutions.
Cummins was founded in 1919 and has been headquartered in Columbus, Indiana since its founding. It employs ~75,500 people globally with 5,000 of those being at 16 sites across the UK, including large manufacturing plants in Darlington, Daventry, Huddersfield, and Cwmbran. Cummins is divided into five business segments – components, engine, distribution, power systems, and Accelera by Cummins.
Their powertrain, components, and energy solutions cover a plethora of market segments from trucks and buses to mining and agriculture. Within the UK, much of the focus is on diesel engines and achieving its PLANET 2050 goals for carbon neutrality. We also support development of Hydrogen ICE, battery systems, electrical solutions as well as brake and drivetrain solutions. Cummins is signatories of the UN’s Race-to-Zero campaign and have received the Terra Carta Seal for their commitment to a sustainable future.
Cummins has a long history of technology innovation and development within the UK. Working on both product and process innovation we have many established relationships with academic bodies, equipment suppliers and SMEs. We have utilised the capabilities of the MTC previously on a discrete basis, but membership was the next logical step. Allowing us to participate in core research, and to leverage the unique skills, knowledge, experience and connections the MTC provides to enhance the way we tackle the manufacturing challenges and opportunities we currently face. We are very excited about this relationship and the projects we will undertake.
Steven Grace, Cummins
MTC and Cummins are both always innovating and thus make natural partners with a shared view of research and development as a cornerstone of business. By working together, we can develop new power-solution innovations that benefit across industry and the world at large.
Cummins, a global leader in power solutions, has built a relationship with MTC though technology collaborations at Daventry and Darlington facilities. Together, we are committed to strengthening our collaboration, recognising that application of modern technology can significantly enhance manufacturing operations. MTC will support Cummins develop and de-risk technology improvements, enabling them to accelerate progress.
