Metrology and Non Destructive Testing at MTC

Metrology & Non-Destructive Testing

The key to unlocking smarter inspection.

At MTC, we take a unique approach by combining Metrology and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) within a single, cohesive department - something rarely seen in industry. This integration allows us to deliver inspection results that are instantaneous and human readable.

Our experts - many holding doctorate-level qualifications - cover areas such as surface metrology, large volume measurement, portable NDT, in-process inspection, and novel methods. As an independent RTO, we offer whole-market access and cross-sector expertise. With access to all inspection systems, we are uniquely positioned to identify, validate, and deploy the optimum solution for your challenge.

What is Metrology & NDT?

Metrology and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) are essential for ensuring part, process, and asset quality. Metrology measures size, form, and position to confirm components meet specification, while NDT uncovers hidden defects that could compromise integrity—without causing damage.

While these disciplines are often handled by separate departments, we integrate them into a single, unified approach. Metrology alone can’t reveal what’s happening inside a component, and NDT alone isn’t easily scalable. But together, they provide a complete picture—inside and out—accurately scaled and integrity-assured, all in one solution.

Our downselection process

We've helped over 100 customers across various industries from aerospace to defence, to construction and infrastructure. We find, validate, and implement the perfect inspection systems for their needs using our proven Inspection System Downselection process. Unlike traditional Metrology or NDT providers tied to specific brands, we’re completely independent, giving us access to the entire market of inspection solutions.

Our suite of state-of-the-art equipment allows us to inspect parts with incredible precision and detail. This means we can objectively compare inspection systems, providing calibrated, data-backed performance insights that most others simply can’t match. Whatever your sector or application, we’ll find the solution that works best for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should we use MTC when we can find these systems ourselves?

We’ve done this over 100 times, so we know the ins and outs of most commercially available systems. We’ve tested them, validated them, and know what works where. Without that experience, it’s easy to end up with equipment that’s not quite right—or struggle to prove it does what you need. We take the risk out of the process, with no disruption to production and no extra strain on your team. Just expert guidance and a system that’s been properly put through its paces.
