ELM Mobility is developing a purpose-built electric vehicle platform designed specifically for last-mile delivery, with the aim of creating a more efficient, zero-emission alternative to conventional delivery vehicles.

As they prepared to move from product development into commercial production, with ambitions to manufacture up to 10,000 units per year, the team needed confidence that both the product and manufacturing approach would remain viable as volumes increased. They also needed a clear understanding of how to scale successfully before committing significant investment.

Now we’ve got much more cost certainty to enable us to put our budgets together for our own internal management but also going out to the investor community.
Iain Roche, Director - Elm Mobility

MTC's Solution
  • Assessed design and manufacturing options for production volumes up to 10,000 units per year
  • Evaluated alternative production scenarios and manufacturing approaches
  • Identified the volume thresholds that trigger a change in manufacturing strategy
  • Determined the points at which alternative manufacturing methods become commercially and technically viable
  • Developed a manufacturing roadmap aligned to future production demand
The Outcome
  • Avoided early lock-in to the wrong manufacturing process
  • Increased confidence in manufacturing costs and future investment decisions
  • Delivered a manufacturing roadmap aligned to future production demand
  • Enabled more informed budgeting and investor conversations
